Deconstruction Program

How it Works
If you are getting ready to remodel or tear down a building, contact the Habitat ReStore at 401-213-6716 or fill out the form here! We will visit the property for a walk-through with you to determine what can or cannot be salvaged. After the walk-through we will schedule a date for our Deconstruction Team to get started! A trained team of staff & volunteers will carefully remove items inside the building that can be salvaged and sold at the ReStore.

The goal of the program is to recycle and reuse materials. Typically deconstructions involved salvaging cabinets, fixtures, appliances, flooring, doors, etc. (all pre-determined with the donor).

A Win-win

Proceeds earned in the ReStore from salvaged deconstruction materials fund the construction of affordable homes in South County. Additionally, construction companies working on a renovation or rebuild project also benefit when they partner with a deconstruction team. They will spend less time on demolition and less on disposal costs as well because they are producing less waste. As a donor, you will also receive a tax deductible receipt for your donation (check with your tax-preparer to determine eligibility).

Environmental Impact

Like all items donated to Habitat ReStores, goods salvaged during a deconstruction are kept out of landfills. And the proceeds from the sale help build decent and affordable homes. South County Habitat for Humanity has diverted over 5 million pounds of material from landfills!
